Reasons for Aging

The most obvious part of the human body that is affected by aging is the skin.  This is evidenced by wrinkles, appearance of white hairs, hair depletion, and many other things.  Skin aging is also usually caused by the rays of the sun, and this type of aging is also known as photo aging.  The sun emits UV rays that can bring damage to the skin.  The sun’s UV rays ruins the elastin as well as the collagen of the skin. As a result, the elasticity of the skin depreciates and leads to the formation of wrinkles.

The level of damage from the sun depends on the complexity of the skin.  Dark-skinned people experience lesser skin damage and, on the other hand, those with fair complexion are more prone to damage caused by UV radiation.  The more you’re exposed to the sun, the greater your chances of catching skin problems.  However, there is a way to prevent it and this is by protecting yourself from the damaging effects of the sun.  How?  By wearing a hat, using umbrellas and most importantly, applying sunscreen.

Facial expression also is a factor in skin aging.  As people get older, the skin becomes less elastic – that is why you have to avoid making expressions that might leave permanent lines on your face.  Frowning is an expression that you should refrain from doing, unless you want to be seen like frowning all the time.

Believe it or not, gravity is another factor that greatly influences aging.  The gravity of the Earth and the elastin of the skin are sort of connected to each other.  Elastin is one of the major components that protect the skin, and if this gets damaged, gravity can easily pull the layers of the skin, which may result into physical facial changes like, for instance, the ears and the nose becomes elongated, the skin sags, and jowls are formed.

Your position while you’re sleeping may also give you wrinkles.  If you are used to sleeping with your face glued to your pillow, wrinkles may appear on your forehead.  If you sleep on your side and your cheeks comfortably resting on your pillow, you might get lines on the sides of your nose and may even get claw’s feet around your eyes.  If you want to prevent the appearance of wrinkles due to your sleeping positions, regularly change your position.  The best sleeping position is facing upwards with the back of your head resting on your pillow instead of your face.

Another unhealthy activity of men that contributes to skin aging is smoking.  Cigarettes can make the skin dry, which then leads to the formations of wrinkles.  If you notice, people who smoke look older than individuals who don’t smoke.  Another effect of smoking is skin discoloration.  Cigarette users usually develop yellow color underneath their skin.
